truck number plate for a snowledge ski trip

Pacific North Quest

Over the course of a week I travelled with the Snowledge crew through mostly Oregon and riding the peaks that were still covered in snow. A large amount of the project was shot on iPhone on top of a bracket while I was also shooting stills, this defintley knocks the quality down on both but let me create a huge amount of content to keep the Snowledge social media feeds going through the summer.

ABSTRACT Finalist

Always nice to see a new shot in print as that hasn’t been my focus for a while and this one was in the SNOWBOARD magazine exposure competition, it was a finalist for the abstract section and just one of those shots that turned out. This was a plan B after hiking up Squaw in the late summer, I had to get my twelve calendar months and Garrett Cygan is just always keen to ride. We we’re making a short video for Snowledge when I figured this would like better as a still and well I’m really happy that it did and really happy with how well the DJI Mavic Pro turns out in print.

iPhone X Snow Test

In a really nice turn of events it kinda made sense to pick up the iPhone X, I grabbed it the day I jumped on the road but it was a blur of using a real camera most of the time, I got home and got to put the camera to the test with a few friends for a Snowledge video around the local resort.

2017 Turns All Year

I didn’t ride everyday but I did ride every month and every month theres something pretty all time to do, thanks to all the friends who did this with me.

Japan

I created a little piece out of nervous excitement in the days between booking my flights and heading off to film Will J in Japan there were some other versions of this with logos and text and other pieces but this was always my favorite version.

Rookies Poster

Charlotte Percle made a really cool film this year, it’s about some first year Freeride World Tour skiers, including a mutual friend of our Sam Lee, so when she asked me to help with a poster for the film I happily grab a few of the photos she had and got into photoshop.

October Turns

All twelve months is one of those ridiculous things that people cling to, it’s a weird badge of honor to have dedicated at least one day each to snowboarding, October is often the hard one, it doesn’t really fit in the Southern Hemisphere, as a lot of people have left by then or started working on the summer sport, it sometimes fits in the Northern Hemisphere if your lucky to get an early storm. Garrett has done more than his fair share, he rode in October for closing day of TC, he went to the patch in South Lake and then he came with me on a stupid long walk on my thirtieth birthday in the last days of October. Snowboarding is still fun, even if this snow did kinda suck.

Snowledge Seventeen Team Edit

The winter of twenty seventeen was something to remember in the Tahoe region, and as the testing home of Snowledge I spent a lot of the season grabbing clips, not really ever filming for this but just taking everything I could get with the crew and cutting it a whole lot of different ways, from posting in the app to longer clips in a number of different ways and this is the cumulation of that. Testing an app has never been better.

Eric Lee O’Brien Seventeen

Getting to work for Snowledge is pretty cool, getting to ski with the founder is really rad when they ski like Eric. After a seriously good season in Tahoe and a lot of tiny camera days just ripping around the local spots we tried to keep this a lot less P.O.V. than the 16 edit and it ended up being a majority of my shots with a little help from others and then my cut.
