Merrill Time

While in Japan working on another soon to be released project we spent a few days with Bode, Harry and their filmer Pat while they worked on this crazy part, I don’t have much in there but stoked to have worked with the guys and see what they are making, plus just watching Bode ride a snowboard is sweet.

Aloha or Die

During this years CHILL Series a couple of my buddies had a little jam up at Temple Basin, Roy & Christina aka Aloha or Die played some sweet little tunes, I had an idea of using it somewhere along the way in the ski edits but that never happened so I threw it together nice and fast for them here so it see’s at least some light of day.

In The Montage

In the mix of trying to get a whole heap done I end up with a few little pieces of footage here and there for projects that I want to happen but run out of time on, like filming with Christy Prior this year, the girl rips but your schedules didn’t really work out so we had one grey morning with a few tricks and they ended up in Snowboarder Mag’s new vid. Don’t worry they are in the first minute so you won’t have to be there all day either.

The Fun

Last year after I was finished up with CHILL series 2012 I made an extra video, just a little something for a CHILL movie night they were having, everything that was awesome but good, https://vimeo.com/50750991 and people seemed to like it, getting more views than some of the actual videos so I had to make another this year.

Black Diamond Big Mountain CHILL Series 2013

I’m always stoked to go back to Temple Basin it’s one of the most photogenic places I’ve been and add to the mix some crazy skiing and you have yourself a weekend, After Tom and Cam’s duo effort for the K2, the girls decided they could do better so Alex Brook and Taylor Rapley take you through the event with some crazy tricks and lines.

Trick Bag App

I did a little helping out with the guys to make some videos for a new snowboard app called Trick Bag. The app makes wish lists, teaches you tricks, scrambles them up and all sorts of stuff to entertain yourself in the park. Download it now on iOS.

The Clubbies

During the 2011 winter, I produced a series of snowboarding videos “The Clubbies” about the lifestyle and riding that goes on in a number of small and obscure ski fields in the South Island of New Zealand, great places with very interesting stories and some awesome snow. The series was three episodes long with each episode three to five minutes long. The series was designed to break the mind set of the club ski fields or as they are affectionately known as a place you might take a trip to once a season and that it was this big thing to go there to a place where you can ride everyday and make a season with a group of other like minded snowboarders.

The clubbies can be an intimidating place, deeper in the mountains where skiing is still the norm and many of the occupants having been there since they were young if not multiple generations and lifts technical to ride many snowboarders feel uneasy before getting to the day lodge, we opened the series up in this way with one of the opening comments having an old time skier referring to us as “gays on trays” before we build into why we are there.

Since this series snowboarding has grown and evolved and continues to become more common place at the clubbies.

The Featured Video above is the first episode.
