James & Linda Invite

A couple of months ago I was working on this wedding invite for a couple of friends, it ended up spanning over a few peices of paper including the paper crane, which thankfully I didn’t have to fold.

K2 Big Mountain Chill Series – The First Actual Edit

The CHILL Series has begun

Which means I have been half way up the side of the mountain shooting for the past week, it’s been a great chance to use a few new toys and do some things that I haven’t before with a production, the internet isn’t too fast up there but as we left town I released this little update.

And in between Mt Olympus and Craigieburn I had an hour or so to cut up this little teaser with some results so that I have time to do the real thing over the next few days before I go back to the hills.

Film Inc Media – Shred & Release

For anyone following any of what I’ve done with video work over the past couple of years you will have seen a Film Inc logo pop up a whole bunch of times, it was Liam Hall’s video name but now we are teaming up to make it into something bigger. The videos will remain largely the same but will have a few extra things like some basic title animations I have been doing in After Effects, this new system of how we are releasing different styles of edits. STATE are the new season edits and were starting the site off with Guido’s, the kid is killing it. Plus you have Drop out’s and strike lapse, both of which are coming soon.
The main change is really the site being the base for what we are doing so check it live at www.filmincmedia.com, it’s not quite a perfect site yet as we decided to push the idea faster than originally planned but I’ll touching it up and making it better depending on where the project leads. It’s a wordpress development with a bunch of plugins and I learnt a bunch of things with the design and development of this one that I may take to a few other sites.

Gang Patch Screen

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been borrowing a silk screen from a friend so I could make a few prints, exposing the image under natural light and drying in the hot water cylinder took a few goes to get the way I was hoping and printing onto denim was a bit harder than I imagined but a couple of layer of ink and now the Quake City Rumblers patch is ready to terrorize Christchurch and conveniently there just happens to be an old Chevy sitting in our garage at the moment.

Feast or Famine

I was just playing with this bit of a drawing after discussing the concept the other day, I don’t know if it’s entirely finished without textures and shading and there is probably a mistake or two in it… but as I was designing the whole thing looked like it could work on a board, so I logged onto facebook to procrastinate a little and first post was a board design comp on boardworld, I’m normally not a fan of asking designers to work for nothing like this but this isn’t going anywhere else so it can go there.

Q.C.R. Patch

I was given the chalk drawing for a basic sketch of the Quake City Rumblers logo probably a couple years ago now, its the moped gang my flat mate and a few of his buddies have but I’ve always struggled to get it into a vector the way I would like it, I don’t think this is finished but it’s getting there for a very simplified version.

Yeboi 2012 site

It’s been a bit hectic to get this site from seeing the range two weeks ago to shooting all the images, working on the site design and code, getting everything all together for the launch but it’s up now at www.yeboi.co.nz.
The idea was to go with something clean and simple without much colour so the bright colours of the products can shine through, organized in a strong two-column grid, and built on a WordPress back end with a few plugins for the cart and other pieces.

A changed identity

Should You Buy Lipsmack?

I did something relatively common to my life yesterday and added to my collection of wakeboard films yesterday I also did something a little less common and wrote a review, I tried to stay away from the whole this trick was good this rider did this and brought up the question of why pay for something as intangible as an iTunes file.

The article was written for NZwakeboard.com but upon seeing it published I’m not as happy as I could be with the result, the format of the site is for what is normally run, photos and videos but not for words, every word is lost in every other one, I don’t want to read it. I would like to think this site is better but not amazing. I need to tweak my design so that words are readable, I’d like to see this on an iPad as I see that as a joining point between computers and books where maybe I will find this easier to read but until then here is that article.

I just watched Lipsmack for the first time and my opinions will change if I watch it again so I’ll write this now when I have some fresh ideas and a desire to shine some light on if you to should spend the $15 for the HD iTunes download as I did, there are also the SD and renting options cheaper online, maybe a DVD that’s more and it will probably already be on the torrents if you want it free but illegally, I won’t be going into if I think this should have been a free release on vimeo, it’s not, that means it’s not an option to discuss and let just deal with what we those we can control and those are my choice to pay that much of my hard earned cash and if I think you should too?
