Everything I post up from the staples, design, photo and video to plenty of smaller projects and ideas that won’t make the main pages of the portfolio or other things I’m trying out.

Wellingzon

I headed to Wellington for the past few days to check out the Semi-permanent design conference, but somehow action sports is always still around, the skate scene up there is really cool, I got to the latest release party for Seconds magazine right off the plane and a couple of days later we stumbled across the Zon of the lines skate comp, Pedro Day was killing it with this frontside flip, I figured I may as well snap a couple of frames and Dave Read, aka blue shirt and fisheye in this shot was keen on posting it into the Manual write up.

Man Camp

Saturday was rather larger than life, I had been shooting a solid 12 hours of photos on Friday so when my alarm went off again just after 5am I dragged myself up to shoot sunrise again, the a tour round town to find another shot, back home for an hour when my phone went so it was a wakeskate in the arvo, straight to the downhill bike tracks and as I was getting home for a chilled Saturday Night my flat mate told me I had 5minutes to pack for Man Camp aka drive to the end of the road as it gets dark, make a fire, sleep on a steep hill with no tents and wake up early again.

The Long Dive

As I wait for my computer to render the clip it needs to I decided to procrastinate by getting into the images from the weekend with the NZWJA, This image of Henry with good pop and a perfect execution of the long dive reminded me of an old Monster Children cover that I don’t even have, I got the other one from this issue, but there cover was a homage to an older blue cove.

Accessories

I’ve got a few more things I want to shoot with my hero 2 before I get my hands on the 3 black edition and with the few new accessories it should make some cool new angels.

Red Bull HYPE

I woke up this morning to an unexpected surprise, on of our recent clips on Film Inc Media got picked up by the Red Bull Facebook and sent out to their 32 million followers. They threw a guy out of space last week and now they post our stuff, I’m stoked, Liam Hall did most of the work, he filmed and edited. Tim Herbert rode good, Kaleb Weston was running the long lens and I had some 50mm shots. Check the vid for yourself Tim at Snowpark 2012.

Yeboi 99

As the NZ winter is drawing to a close Yeboi decided they needed to crank up the heat, so I helped out with a couple pieces of the design for the $99 sale.

Fails

This was my entry for the CHILL Film Feast short film competition over the weekend, I had been planning on making this while filming and working out how much awesome footage wouldn’t make the actual edits, then was asked to put something into the Film Feast. I didn’t know it was a competition, I hadn’t even started making it till after the entries closed and even claim in the middle of it some of my shots aren’t any good.

logo design

After the Quake City Rumblers TV3 News appearance it seems a fitting time to release the logo I’ve been working on for them. With an image from William Miler engraved in 1818, QCR are collaborating with the dead, just the way it should be.

Camperventure

Half way through the CHILL Series I made an interesting choice to stop sleeping and go back onto the road to keep filming when I needed to spend a lot of time editing, the opportunity had come up to chase Will J and Abby down to Tekapo with some new snow, the trip started well, the first turns were deep and the sun was shining, as we walked to the Ohau ridge the wind started to really blow and didn’t stop, we made the most of the next few days but didn’t get everything we needed so a few days back in Christchurch then off to Wanaka to finish off this ep.

James & Linda Invite

A couple of months ago I was working on this wedding invite for a couple of friends, it ended up spanning over a few peices of paper including the paper crane, which thankfully I didn’t have to fold.
