Video Test: Skate Slow

Coming up with a little extra time to shoot got me to the point of wanting to work on a few clips I’ve been thinking about. I;m not exactly sure if it’s going to be a series or things that will flow together or just a bunch of little things that I shoot and throw together. The first of these was skating through my backyard with Ryan Fitzhenry of Rotor Collective on the DJI Mavic.

The Wireless – Dave North

One of the nice perks of this job is that I got to work with one of those people that I’ve been interested in for a while. I’ve skated his boards on and off for a while, as has probably everyone thats skated in NZ.
I’ve heard a fair amount about Dave, he lives half an hour away from where I did a bunch of years back on the west coast, where both of us were kinda in the middle of nowhere, which is maybe why I hadn’t met him, he enjoys his privacy, making it really cool that he let us follow him around with a camera and Anna Pearson with her notepad. Check the full piece on The Wireless or the video piece.

Airtime Skating Chch’s New Park

I got up to Christchurch to check out and shoot the redeveloped Washington Way skate park for the latest Airtime Ep on TV 4 and NZSkate.com, one of the best places I’ve had a roll, too bad we struggled with the weather before deadline and I was back South before I had that much of a chance to skate the park myself. Thanks to James, Jordan, Jack & Alex for helping out with the shoot.

Queenstown Skate Airtime Ep

So with dead season hanging around I got down to the skate parks and caught up with a few of the locals for an Airtime Ep now playing on TV Four and NZSkate.com. Thanks to Indy, Sage, TJ, and everyone else who helped out and braved the cold and frosty parks.

The Weekend Herald Pullout

So Instagram is telling me I was featured in the Weekend Herald for my skate shot in Wellington the other day. Skate culture in mass media is a bit of a hard one to get right but as I’ll take it.

Wellingzon

I headed to Wellington for the past few days to check out the Semi-permanent design conference, but somehow action sports is always still around, the skate scene up there is really cool, I got to the latest release party for Seconds magazine right off the plane and a couple of days later we stumbled across the Zon of the lines skate comp, Pedro Day was killing it with this frontside flip, I figured I may as well snap a couple of frames and Dave Read, aka blue shirt and fisheye in this shot was keen on posting it into the Manual write up.

Fight or Flight

I haven’t been skating in way too long but it still inspires me most days, I should probably finish this design but on the chance I don’t I’ll leave it here to find again another day.

First Summer of the Season

And Just before daylight saving slips in we went for two wakeskates, boat riding out at Lyttelton the into twon for the first NZwakeboard.com shoot of the season with Tim VW. It’s a drop that we hit a few years back but last time we didn’t get the second shot of this vid so was good to go back and knock that one off.

Spring Skate Edit

During the last month or so of last summer I went shooting a bunch for NZwakeboard.com but never really had enough to make a full edit and when I eventually di it was winter so right about now seems like a good time to release the cut and get people motivated for the upcoming summer.
